MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/02/26)---Concordia honored its seniors and their families before the annual Cobb Open and then showcased its team talent during the five hours during the meet as they proved why they are one of the favorites to claim the MIAC Outdoor Championship Meet title next weekend.
When all the dust had settled on the partly cloudy, 70-degree day, the Cobbers had posted a trio of Top 10 all-time program marks, numerous MIAC qualifying finishes and 25 personal-best performances as they enjoyed the benefits of being at home.
The NCAA Indoor Meet participant duo of Emily Rengo and Josie Brown both entered their names in the No.2 spot in the Cobber record books.
Rengo clocked a 12.09 in the 100-meter dash while Brown crossed the line in 1:02.08 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Rengo's time has her as the No.1 seed heading into the conference meet. Brown's mark in the hurdles is also No.1 in the MIAC and only .36 of a second off the 31-year-old school record.
Brown's time also gets her into the Top 15 of Division III which will most likely earn her a trip to the national outdoor meet.
The other Top 10 Cobber all-time mark was turned in by Chloe Mueffelmann in the shot put. Mueffelman recorded a distance of 43-02.50 on her sixth, and final, attempt. Her mark jumped her into the No.2 spot in the conference this year.
Mueffelman also had a PR mark in the discus with a distance of 124-11 which will get her into the conference meet.
The discus also saw Ellie Welch climb into the Top 5 of the MIAC with a mark of 130-11.
Concordia had two other athletes come away with Top 3 finishes in a meet that was predominantly Division I and II athletes.
Emma Warner placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 59.39 while 2-sport athlete Genevieve Gruba was third in the javelin at 129-07.
The javelin also saw Kaia Gack and Grace Ciarrochi give the Cobbers three athletes in the Top 5. Gack placed fourth at 125-01 and Ciarrochi was fifth with a personal-best distance of 120-09.
Other Cobbers who climbed into the Top 15 in the MIAC on Saturday included Piper Osborne, McKinley Folland, Kaycee Endreson, Kennison Azure and Emma Norton.
Osborne posted a distance of 35-01.00 in the triple jump. Folland and Endreson both earned a spot at the MIAC Meet in the hammer throw with personal-best marks. Folland had a mark of 139-11.00 and Endreson finished at 137-04.00. Azure and Norton both had PR marks on Saturday. Azure dropped a distance of 111-11.00 in the javelin and is one of seven Cobbers in the Top 10 of the MIAC in the event. Norton claimed a spot at the conference meet when she cleared 5-01.75 in the high jump which moves her into the No.7 spot in the conference.
Concordia will take their huge contingent of athletes to Northfield to compete at the MIAC Championship Meet hosted by St. Olaf on May 8-9.
