Cobbers Overpower Pilots
Concordia scored the first 12 points in their non-conference game with Providence-Manitoba and held the Pilots to only 13 points in the first half en route to a comfortable 83-41 win.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/15/24)---Concordia scored the first 12 points in their non-conference game with Providence-Manitoba and held the Pilots to only 13 points in the first half en route to a comfortable 83-41 win.
The win is the second straight for the Cobbers to open the season.
The 41 points allowed are the fewest by a Concordia squad since they limited St. Scholastica to 37 points in the middle of January last season.
Concordia grabbed 22 offensive rebounds and had 40 points in the pain as they used their size advantage to overpower Providence. CC finished with a 2-to-1 margin in total rebounds. They came down with 53 boards as opposed to 26 for the Pilots.
Senior Noah Christensen had a game-high nine rebounds and also added four blocks. Jackson Loge recorded eight boards while Erik Foster grabbed seven and Jacob Cook finished with six. The Cobbers had 13 players grab a rebound in the game.
Loge, Cook and Rowan Nelson led the scoring race. Loge put up 16 points to go with his eight boards. Cook was 6-for-10 from the floor and finished with 12 points and Nelson was 2-for-3 from distance and has 12 points.
Erik Hedstrom was 3-for-3 from the floor and finished with eight points.
Concordia shot 41.7% (30-for-72) from the field and 25.0% (6-for-24) from outside the arc in the game.
The Cobbers will have a week before they host their next game. CC will face Wis.-Stout on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3 p.m.
