A Pair Of 2-Goal Bursts Send Cobbers To 1-Goal Loss In Series Opener

ST. PETER, Minn. (11/21/25)---Concordia scored the first and last goals in its series opener at Gustavus but the Gusties were able to come up with a pair of 2-goal bursts which sent the Cobbers to a 4-3 loss.
The loss drops Concordia's record to 2-4-1 on the season in all games and 0-2-1 in MIAC contests. Gustavus wins for the first time this season and is now 1-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play.
Junior Zach Stoner opened the scoring for CC when he scored his first goal of the season midway through the first period. Patrick Dunaiski and Tal Halliday were credited with the assists on the power play goal at 10:15.
Gustavus would tie the game less than 2-minutes later when they scored a power play goal at the 11:29 mark.
The Gusties took their first lead of the game in the third minute of the second period before the Cobbers tied the game at 6:01 when Dunaiski scored his first collegiate goal on the power play. Halliday picked up his second point of the game and Ben Luedtke was awarded with the other helper on the game-tying goal.
Gustavus posted its second 2-goal streak the same way they recorded their first – a goal in the second half of the period and then another at the very beginning of the next frame.
The Gusties tied the game at 16:40 of the second and got the game-winning goal at 1:32 of the third period.
Concordia was able to get to within a goal midway through the final period when Jack Hanson scored his first goal of the season at 12:14. Stoner and goalie Dane Couture had the assists on the play.
The Cobbers were able to get four shots on goal in the final 3:30 of play and had a couple of golden opportunities in the final minute of play but each chance was turned aside by the Gustavus netminder.
Concordia was outshot 39-25 in the game with senior Joe Harguindeguy leading the way for CC with five shots on goal.
Couture finished the game by turning aside 35 shots.
Both teams scored on the power with CC going 1-for-5 and GAC posting a 1-for-4 mark.
The two teams will finish the series on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Don Roberts Ice Rink.
