Depth + Inside Game = Another Win vs. St. Benedict
Concordia used its depth and outstanding interior play to roll past St. Benedict 77-64. The Cobbers had nine players score at least three points in the victory, held a 36-23 advantage in rebounds and came away with four more points in the paint as they beat the Bennies for the eighth time in the last nine meetings between the two teams.
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (12/06/25)---Concordia used its depth and outstanding interior play to roll past St. Benedict 77-64.
The Cobbers had nine players score at least three points in the victory, held a 36-23 advantage in rebounds and came away with four more points in the paint as they beat the Bennies for the eighth time in the last nine meetings between the two teams.
The win is the second straight for CC, who move to 6-1 in all games and 2-0 in conference play. All six of the Cobbers' wins this season have been by double digits.
St. Benedict loses for the second time in the last six games and is now 6-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Concordia trailed for only one trip down the court in the game and that came in the first four minutes of the opening quarter of play. The Cobbers held the lead for the final 36:26 of the contest and built the lead to as many as 18 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Concordia finished the game by shooting 52.3% (23-for-44) from the floor and 58.3% (7-for-12) from outside the arc. Both shooting percentages are season highs for CC and the seven made 3-pointers are also the most for the season. The Cobbers also posted a season-high free throw total as they made 24 of their 31 (77.4%) of their shots from the foul line.
The CC defense limited St. Benedict to 29.7% (19-for-64) shooting from the field and 16.0% (4-for-25) from distance.
The Cobbers were led by starters Molly Musland and Maya Metcalf, who both finished with 14 points. Musland was 2-for-3 from outside the arc and added four rebounds, while Metcalf was 2-for-4 from 3-point range and had five boards.
Sophomore Kaia Gack gave Concordia three players in double figures. She scored all 11 of her total points in the first half. Gack also posted four rebounds and two assists.
First-year guard Kaitlyn Rohloff didn't miss a shot in the game. She went 3-for-3 from the floor, 1-for-1 from distance and 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
Taya Jeffrey, Taylor Safranski and Alexa Snesrud all came away with six points and Genevieve Gruba recorded a team-high six rebounds.
Concordia will finish off its pre-Christmas schedule when they play at St. Olaf on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 5:15 p.m.
