MOORHEAD, MINN (12/13/25) – A fast start, special teams success, and a strong performance in net powered Concordia to a 4–1 victory over Wis.–Superior as the Cobbers built an early lead and never relinquished control.
The win gives the Cobbers a sweep in the series and earns them their fourth victory in the last six games. The sweep is the first of the year for CC and it moves their record to 4-6 on the season as they enter the holiday break.
Concordia jumped out to a fast start in the opening 20 minutes, controlling possession and building a 2–0 lead over Wisconsin–Superior after one period of play.
The Cobbers set the tone immediately, winning the opening faceoff and generating early pressure with multiple chances from in tight and below the goal line. Concordia was rewarded for its sustained offensive-zone time at the 16:40 mark when Morgan Sauvageau capitalized on a power-play opportunity. Sauvageau finished a feed from Taylyn Cope and Addie Moos to give the Cobbers a 1–0 advantage following a holding penalty assessed to the Yellowjackets.
Wisconsin–Superior looked to respond during its own power play midway through the period, but Concordia's penalty kill held firm, limiting the Yellowjackets to a handful of attempts from behind the net and the slot.
The Cobbers doubled their lead at 11:14 as Sauvageau struck again, this time at even strength. After sustained pressure in front of the net, Sauvageau buried her second goal of the night with assists from Jaclyn Lloyd and Cope to make it 2–0.
Abby Huselid was solid in net, turning aside every chance she faced to preserve the shutout heading into the first intermission.
The Cobbers carried a 2–0 lead and all the momentum into the break.
The Yellowjackets earned a power play just 1:32 into the second frame following a hooking call on Sauvageau and generated several chances from in tight. Concordia's penalty kill once again stood tall, blocking shots and limiting second opportunities to keep the shutout intact.
After killing off the penalty, the Cobbers regained momentum with sustained offensive-zone pressure. That pressure paid off at the 11:35 mark when Moos finished a point-blank opportunity in front of the net. Memphis Mertens and Anna Nelson picked up the assists as Concordia pushed its lead to 3–0.
Wisconsin–Superior finally broke through late in the period at the 2:21 mark when Aylie Dahl scored, cutting the deficit to 3–1 with assists from Ashton Parnell and Taylee Marks.
The Cobbers maintained a 3–1 lead heading into the third period.
The Yellowjackets applied early pressure, but Concordia's defensive structure and goaltending held strong. The Cobbers were tested with two early penalties, including back-to-back minors to Lloyd, yet the penalty-kill unit turned aside every Wisconsin–Superior opportunity to maintain the two-goal cushion.
Midway through the period, Concordia generated sustained offensive-zone pressure of its own and was rewarded at the 6:24 mark. Cope finished from the top of the crease off a feed from Lloyd to extend the Cobbers' lead to 4–1 and reestablish full control of the game.
Despite a late power-play opportunity in the final seconds, the Cobbers were unable to add another goal, but the result was never in doubt. Concordia shut down Wisconsin–Superior's final push and skated off with a convincing 4–1 win.
Sauvageau led the Cobber offense with two goals, while Cope and Moos each added one. Cope and Lloyd both recorded two assists, and Huselid finished the game with 25 saves.
The Cobbers return to action on January 2, traveling to Wisconsin–River Falls for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.
